he Nine Nations of China," which included this map of regional differences within the country:
Shortly thereafter the Shanghaiist had a
further riff on the theme, with maps of China representing the mental images of people from different parts of China. For instance, China as seen by people from Shanghai:

And according to people from Hong Kong:

The spirit is that of Steinberg's famous
map of the USA as seen from Manhattan. Worth checking out.
